KLANG VALLEY STREETS: Soothe your stress away

 A PLACE: To
unwind and destress. |
Tucked away in a secluded corner of The Curve in
Petaling Jaya is a place shoppers and residents can go to to calm their
senses, writes SU AZIZ.
URBAN Retreat
spa offers respite for tired feet, hunched shoulders, heavy heads and
cricked necks with an express menu from a mere RM39. What’s more, it is
also hassle-free.
There is no need to undress, you just need to get
yourself to the first floor of The Curve in Petaling Jaya and look for the
MPH store. Turn left when the MPH store is ahead of you and Urban Retreat
spa is on your left, tucked comfortably away from prying eyes.
A
therapist will soothe away your stress in 30 minutes with the head and
shoulders massage. It certainly removed the crick in my neck which has
been there for two weeks.
For another RM39, a 30-minute foot
massage will ease away tired muscles and aching calves. Just remember to
wear loose pants or shorts for this one.
The therapist
massages right up to your knees and she uses a blunt, round tipped stick
to press at pressure points on your soles. They are very attentive to your
pain threshold here, so think nothing of telling them to stop should the
pain become excruciating.
A full blown massage and body scrub using
a special blend of Balinese coffee is also offered. The Urban Escape
package combines a Thai and traditional massage from head to toe. It is
priced at RM99.
The spa, which opened in October last year, mainly
uses the Thai product line, Harnn.
Since the spa carries and sells
the Harnn products, which consists of soaps, massage oils, essential oils,
scented candles and the all-natural body scrubs with the base ingredients
of salt and sugar, you can easily continue the spa experience in your own
home.
Prices range from RM12 to RM79. A one-time body scrub which
exfoliates and detoxes only costs RM18 each.
The spa offers four
treatment rooms which includes a couple’s treatment room. It is cozy and
the calm interior will definitely soothe away the day’s worries.
It opens from noon to 10pm from Mondays to Fridays. It is open an
hour earlier on Saturdays and Sundays.
